We were a remote site located about 1.5 miles into a Turkish Army Corp post. Our entire enclave would fit into a strip mall parking lot. We had 42-45 men at any given time.
I know Ortaköy is a common name in Turkiye, we were located about 15 miles from Sarkoy and maybe 1/2 hour-45 minute drive from Gelibolu (Gallipoli for the uninitiated).
I worked in commo and the S-2 shop while there and was on the "A" side of the EAP team, the only junior enlisted in all of SETAF, I might add. I loved it there and found the Turkish people the most warm and hospitable I ever found in all my travels. I don't think I ever paid for a cup of chai and I really wish I could get my hands on some Efes lager.
