SEND US YOUR STORY OF BEING STATIONED IN TURKEY
| |
Each American military person who had the opportunity to live and work in Turkey has a different story.
There are many common threads, of course, such as surprise when one first saw their orders to Turkey. And generally there is a thread of enjoyable occurrences whether on or off duty.
Our goal with the American Military in Turkey website is to recall what we can, in order to help trigger memories long forgotten that others may suddenly be able to recall. And through this process we are slowly growing a "museum" of life in a country not only foreign to most of us at first blush, but a country that few other souls may think to visit and enjoy.
Invariably when we hear from people who have returned from their first visit to Turkey, they have been hugely affected by the experience, surprised by the depth of history there, the friendliness of Turkey's people, and the massive effort Turks have made to be western in nature, and yet deeply respectful of their religious and cultural traditions.
Most of us who have had this opportunity can consider ourselves quite lucky, indeed.
SHARE YOUR STORY AND PHOTOS OF YOUR TIME IN TURKEY!
American Military in Turkey is "our story". And if you had interesting events occur during your stay in Turkey as part of your military duties, we'd like to hear about them and share them with the many visitors to our website. Please use the form at right to make contact with us initially, and let us know an outline of what you'd like to share.
Those who wish to contribute information will have your story on its own web page, including any photos you wish to send to illustrate your story. But don't send them immediately. Make contact first, so we can write you and give you specifics via e-mail.
Here's hoping your story of life in Turkey while with the American military will become part of our historical museum!
Cheers!
